Step-by-Step Guide: Grouting With GoPoxy
Grouting wit GoPoxy is an essential step in any tile installation project. It not only enhances the overall appearance of the tiles but also helps to protect them.
We have prepared a step-by-step guide to ensure that you apply it correctly. Follow these instructions and achieve professional-looking results.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If your grout has been stored in a cold place, we recommend placing the GoPoxy tubes in warm water prior to use. This will ensure that the two components come out easily.
Step 1: Prepare the Surface
Prior to application, it is crucial to ensure that all joints are clean, dry, and free of any debris. Apply GoPoxy Priming Wax to the face of the tile along the grout joints, making sure that no wax gets into the joints themselves.
If you are using tile trim, it is advisable to use masking tape on the trim to avoid damage when scraping the excess material off later.
Step 2: Attach the Mixing Nozzle
Remove the cap of the GoPoxy grout tube and attach the mixing nozzle. If you wish to use the 'Guidance Tool', attach it at this stage as well.
Step 3: Mix the Components
Place the tube into the GoPoxy gun and squeeze the handle to begin mixing the two components. This ensures that the grout is properly blended.
Step 4: Discard the Initial Portion
To ensure that the two components have mixed sufficiently, discard the first 30cm of GoPoxy. This step is crucial, as failure to do so may impact how the grout sets.
Step 5: Apply GoPoxy into the Joints
Once the joints are clean, dry, and free of any adhesive or debris, slowly apply GoPoxy into the joints. Take your time to ensure that the joints are completely filled.
Step 6: Smooth the Grout Joints
Starting at the corners, use GoPoxy finishing tools to smooth the grout joints to your desired finish. This step helps to achieve a professional look and ensures that the grout is evenly distributed.
Step 7: Allow the Grout to Set
Leave the grout to set for a period of 3 to 24 hours, depending on the temperature. During this time, avoid any disturbances that could affect the setting process.
Step 8: Remove Excess Grout
After the grout has set, carefully remove any excess from the face of the tile using the GoPoxy scraper supplied in the tool kit. Be cautious not to scrape or damage the tile's surface while doing so.
By following these step-by-step instructions, you will be able to apply GoPoxy grout correctly and achieve a professional finish for your tiles. Remember to take your time and ensure that all steps are performed diligently. Enjoy your beautifully grouted tiles!
